What makes art of Whistler distinctive?
Whistler art can hold several different memories of the same place: the dark outline of Black Tusk, a view across Whistler and Blackcomb, or the atmosphere of a day in the mountains. A painting can preserve the decisions an artist made about colour and light. A travel poster turns a place into a clear, graphic image that can live on a wall long after the trip.
Graham Watts approaches mountain subjects as a painter. Before a composition is finished, he studies the structure of a peak, how its faces sit in space, and how light gives one plane depth against another. His original oils use colour and textured paint; the poster collection takes the same interest in shape and viewpoint into a simpler destination-art format.
Start with a mountain you recognize
Black Tusk is an immediately recognizable silhouette in the Whistler area. Fissile Peak offers a more layered study of ridges and alpine light. Whistler Blackcomb designs connect to ski days and the resort landscape. The choice often comes down to which mountain carries your own memory.
