A painter shaped by the Sea-to-Sky
Graham Watts is a Canadian oil painter originally from Guelph, Ontario. He has lived in British Columbia’s Sea-to-Sky region for more than 25 years. Mountains, wildlife, Vancouver streets and skiing inform his work. His Arts Whistler profile describes his original hand-painted oils and his connection to local scenery.
How he studies a mountain
For Graham, a peak is not simply a single view to copy. He studies its form from different angles, watches how changing light defines its faces, and plans a composition that makes the mountain feel dimensional on a flat canvas. His oil painting uses saturated colour and sculptural texture. The Whistler travel posters use a different visual language, keeping bold outlines and a sense of place.
From original artwork to a travel poster
The posters on this site are open-edition designs. They are not original oil paintings or Graham’s signed, numbered limited-edition giclée prints. This distinction matters if you are choosing a gift or collecting art: each format has a different relationship to the artist’s hand. See the Whistler art guide for a comparison, or explore the Black Tusk design.
